About Me
My name is Jahzara Zoe Ellis, but those close to me call me Zoe, meaning "life"—a name that reflects my aspirations and spirit. Born in Brooklyn and raised in Jersey City by my single mother, I’m a freshman biology major at Howard University on a pre-med track, driven by my passion for neurology and my dream of becoming a neurosurgeon. Inspired by my grandfather’s battle with a brain arteriovenous malformation, I’m committed to understanding the brain’s complexities and improving the lives of those facing neurological challenges.
Beyond my academic pursuits, I am the co-founder of Girlz Love Tech (GLT), a STEM-based organization dedicated to empowering young women of color to explore and excel in technology and innovation. GLT provides mentorship, hands-on workshops, and access to resources that inspire girls to break barriers in STEM fields and achieve their dreams.
After completing my education, I hope to return to Jersey City to open a medical practice that fosters community and advocates for equitable health care. My goal is to empower others, uplift through education, and inspire change—one patient at a time.
